my mission
I advocate for roundabouts where they make sense and adaptive signals to clear congestion more quickly.
I endorse elevated enforcement of speeding and red light laws to make streets safer.
To improve pedestrian and cyclist mobility, I back sidewalks, wider paved paths, and accessible crosswalks where possible.
streamlining traffic
Before decisions are made on major projects, I believe the justification for each should be communicated clearly. Sufficient time must be set aside to notify the public and solicit input.
If necessary in the future, I don’t think it’s prudent to renovate Toyota Field beyond what’s required to keep the stadium up to league standards.
I examine appropriations to internal departments and external agencies to confirm returns on investment. We must simultaneously ensure that our first responders are fully staffed and equipped to protect us.
fiscal responsibility
Madison City Schools (MCS) bolsters our property values and empowers the next generation. After speaking with many stakeholders, including residents with differing views, I concluded that the system needs the half cent sales tax that’s currently dedicated to education. As a result, I voted for its indefinite renewal.
I’ll support the continued appointment of sound, qualified members to the MCS Board of Education.
upholding schools
I’m hosting at least one office hour before each regular Council meeting to connect with the public. I’m also updating constituents through a weekly digest, Facebook, Nextdoor, and Reddit. Via those platforms and other conversations, I collect feedback on recent and upcoming agenda items. That data informs the stances I take on the dais.
I’ll encourage the boards and committees for which I’m the Council liaison to keep their minutes and calendars current. My hope is that this will spur more understanding and engagement.
community connection
I’ll pursue savvy opportunities to preserve green spaces, trails, and mature trees.
I think it would improve quality of life to add restrooms to parks throughout the City. I intend to explore where that might make sense and how it could be financed.
To avoid straining streets, schools, and services further, I’ll vote for a slower rate of residential development than what’s been approved in the past.
